Terms of Service – Frisson Labs: Oto

Welcome to Oto, a Chrome extension developed by Frisson Labs ("we", "us", or "our"). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Oto. By using Oto, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Definitions

“Service” refers to the Oto Chrome extension and any related services provided by Frisson Labs.

“User” or “you” refers to the individual using Oto.

“Content” includes all data, models, bios, messages, or materials submitted or generated using Oto.

“AI Output” refers to any text, audio, or interaction generated by AI systems via Oto.

2. Service Description

Oto is a browser overlay that renders AI-powered 2D and 3D characters capable of interacting with the web pages you visit. It provides a conversational companion experience that adapts based on your browsing context, using AI and long-term memory to personalize interactions.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Oto. If you are under 18, you must have consent from a parent or legal guardian.

3. User Responsibilities

You agree not to:

  • Use Oto for unlawful, harmful, deceptive, or abusive purposes.
  • Violate intellectual property, publicity, or privacy rights of others.
  • Upload or use content that contains malware, viruses, or harmful code.
  • Reverse-engineer, modify, or interfere with the operation of the Service.

4. User-Generated Content

You may upload or create custom avatars, bios, and conversation content. You retain ownership of your content but grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, distribute, and reproduce it as necessary to operate and improve the Service.

You affirm that you have legal rights to any content you upload and that it does not infringe any third-party rights.

5. AI Output Disclaimer

AI-generated responses are for entertainment and informational purposes only. They may be inaccurate, biased, or inappropriate. Oto does not provide medical, legal, financial, or professional advice. Use discretion when interacting with AI-generated content.

6. Mental Health Disclaimer

Oto is not a medical, therapeutic, or crisis response tool. If you are experiencing thoughts of self-harm, suicide, or emotional distress, we strongly encourage you to seek help immediately from a licensed professional or a crisis resource in your country (e.g., 988 in the U.S.). Conversations with Oto are not monitored in real time and cannot respond to emergencies. We do not collect, store, or process mental-health data for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes.

7. AI Nature & Non-Human Disclaimer

Oto is a fully automated AI character. All messages are generated by algorithms without human writing, review, or intervention. Any emotional tone, empathy, or personality you perceive is simulated. Oto is not a therapist, human advisor, or a substitute for genuine human connection, medical treatment, or professional support.

8. Beta Disclaimer

Oto is an evolving product that may change, improve, or discontinue features at any time without prior notice.

9. Moderation

We may implement tools to allow users to report harmful behavior or inappropriate content. We reserve the right to review and take action, including disabling content or terminating user access.

10. Privacy and Data

Oto accesses your browser tabs and page content to enable contextual interactions. This may include text, media, and user interactions. Data is processed via third-party AI APIs. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

11. Intellectual Property

All rights to the Service, including but not limited to software, branding, models, and algorithms, belong to Frisson Labs. Users may not copy, alter, distribute, or create derivative works of Oto without express permission.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to Oto at our sole discretion if you violate these Terms or harm the experience or safety of others.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Frisson Labs will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use or inability to use the Service.

14. Changes

We may modify these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA.
